For rejuvenation, CO2 (carbon dioxide) and erbium lasers are used, most of which are absorbed by water. They differ in wavelength and amount of energy absorption, which determines the technology of the procedure. CO-2 devices are used for ablative renewal, and erbium ones - for non-ablative.
With ablative rejuvenation, the laser beam acts not only on the deep layers of the skin, but also on the surface ones. With non-ablative - the laser penetrates deep into the tissue, but does not damage the surface of the skin. This is possible due to the different waves of the laser, as well as the fact that there is less water (10-15%) in the epidermis than in the deep layers of the skin (70-75%).
Carbon dioxide lasers have the longest wavelength of any medical laser available at 10, 600 nm. Water absorbs such rays very well, so they react even with the small amount of water in the epidermis. Thus, ablative techniques are performed with the help of such lasers, which are able to affect the surface layer of the skin.
Erbium laser wavelengths are between 1064 and 2940 nm. The laser clinics use Palomar Lux 1540, whose wavelength is 1540 nm, and the depth of penetration into tissues is up to 2 mm. Water does not absorb such rays and thus passes through the epidermis without damaging it. Laser action already begins in deep layers, where there are enough water molecules to interact with the beam. Palomar Lux 1540 is used for fractional photothermolysis.
Why is laser rejuvenation a safe and effective procedure?
Modern lasers fractionally activate CO2 and erbium, i. e. the beam is subdivided into micro-beams in the form of a grid. Because of this, only 20% of the surface is damaged, and the recovery process is conducted across the entire size of the skin. This effect minimizes the potential for heat damage, unpleasant effects in the form of scars and scars, and also increases the rate of tissue repair.
Laser action results in the formation of a coagulation column, in the case of the ablative - open, non-ablative - closed technology. These columns are located at a certain distance from each other due to fractional action. The cells around the coagulation zone are subjected to heat shock, which activates metabolic processes and the production of new cells. Thanks to this, a lifting effect is achieved, the skin is rejuvenated.
For whom is mature maturity suitable?
Relative rejuvenation is a very effective method to solve problems such as shallow wrinkles, pigmentation, and reduction of skin elasticity and firmness.
The laser works primarily in the upper layers of the dermis, it does not penetrate deep, but affects the surface layer. Thanks to this, the skin is refreshed to the full depth of penetration of the beam (up to 1 mm) and the obvious correction of surface imperfections. To achieve a good effect, only 1 procedure is required. The recovery period after the procedure is 5-7 days.
Relative rejuvenation, especially DOT therapy, is ideal for those who want a quick result with a minimum recovery period.
For whom is non-ablative renewal suitable?
Non-ablative rejuvenation is one of the most effective techniques for getting rid of wrinkles, lifting skin, rejuvenating, improving skin quality, treating pigmentation and other skin imperfections.
The operation of the laser in the deep layers only results in the recovery period after the procedure being practically absent and only 2-3 days. Achieving a result similar to abduction renewal will require a greater number of procedures, usually 3-4. Due to deeper penetration, complete tissue restructuring occurs, resulting in a significant lifting effect.
Non-ablative rejuvenation, especially fractional photothermolysis, is ideal for those who want a significant result without intense exposure and a recovery period.
